Parsel

We all love talking about our favorite makeup must-haves, but what about those makeup fails? You know, the products you buy and instantly regret purchasing? Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to avoid ever having those products in your collection? Well, you may not be able to avoid every makeup fail, but we’re here to help you at least prevent some. Today, with the guidance of Tati, we’re giving you the scoop on makeup products to avoid at Sephora. Best part? After this post, you’ll find links to all the best makeup products that we think will be a much better use of your money. Let’s get into this!

  1. Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder

Now if you’re familiar with makeup at all, you know how popular the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder is (linked below!), but don’t fooled, the Invisible Loose Setting Powder is not the same thing. The Invisible version will amplify all your pores, and will sit right on top of your skin. Hello cakey looking makeup. No thanks.

2) NARS Dual Intensity Cheek Palette

When it comes to NARS, their makeup game is usually top-notch, but with this palette, we’re going to recommend passing on it. Why? As a palette, it just doesn’t make sense. As Tati says in her video, this likely is not going to be a palette you reach for everyday. The color is extremely pigmented and shiny. For a special occasion perhaps, but we’d recommend buying a single version of one of these colors, rather than the entire palette. It’ll be a better use of your money.

3) Laura Gellar Just Blushing Palette

Again, another overly shimmery blush palette. Now, if you like some shimmer, that’s totally a preference thing, but what you’re going to find with this particular palette is all three shades look extremely similar on the face. When you purchase a palette, you’re likely getting it because you want variety. With this palette, you’re not going to get that.

4) Ciate Pout Potion

The point of this product is to create fuller lips. You simply layer it under your regular lip products and then you should notice fuller lips. Only problem? According to Tati, it just doesn’t work. You’ll actually probably find it messes with your top layer of lip product, so really, what’s the point of buying this? Pass.

5) Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof 12 Hour Concealer

Usually when I see the words “waterproof” and “12 hour”, it makes my makeup obsessed heart sing, but not in this particular case. With this concealer, because of its thickness, you’re going to find it amplifies creasing and fine lines. If you want a great concealer from Tarte, try out Tarte’s Shape Tape (it’s basically every beauty blogger’s favorite concealer; linked below)

6) Benefit Dandelion Shy Beam

If you want a thick highlighter, then this might be the product for you. We’re going to take a guess, though, and say there’s probably nobody out there looking for a thick highlighter. The consistency of this product almost resembles a concealer, which isnot something you want to be putting on your face to highlight.

7) Calvin Klein Blush 200

In this little palette, you get both a powder and a cream. As Tati mentions, if you do happen to own this product, do not try and layer the two. They are chunky, will make your makeup look streaky, and overall are just not a good combination. Stay away.

And there you have it: 7 products from Tati that she would recommend not purchasing. Do you own any of these products? Do you like them?
