There’s nothing worse than waking up in the morning, and feeling like overnight, your skin suddenly turned into sandpaper, which isn’t always the best canvas for applying your makeup. So today, with the help of Alexandrea Garza, we’re going to discuss makeup products you need to add to your collection to keep your skin looking hydrated and glowing all season long.

If you want to keep your skin looking fresh and hydrated all day, it’s time to invest in a primer. Especially as the cold, harsh wind moves in. Two great, hydrating options for winter months are the Marc Jacobs Perfecting Coconut Primer and the Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Iluminating Primer. If you only get a little dry regularly, stick with the Marc Jacobs, but if you’re somebody who is prone to dry skin, Juice Beauty is going to be perfect for you. However, the Juice Beauty Primer is extremely hydrating and illuminating, and if you’re even the slightest bit oily, you’ll likely get some unwanted shine in your T-zone, so be cautious of applying too much of this primer.

Personally, there’s nothing worse for me than when my skin gets dry and I can see by the end of the day my foundation starts to flake. Not good! Two amazing foundation options to keep your foundation lasting all day are the Make Up For Ever HD Stick and the Juice Beauty Serum Foundation. If you’re looking for a luminous look with full coverage, the HD Stick is an amazing option with an extremely hydrating formula. If you want something that has a bit more shimmer to it for a glowing look, give Juice Beauty a try. Paired with the primer mentioned above, your skin will thank you.

Setting Spray

Alexandrea recommends this product to everyone, no matter your skin type. The Makeup Forever Mix and Fix setting spray will take away any powdery finish or cakey look, which is exactly what you want in winter when skin is more prone to dryness.

The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders are great because you can use them to set your makeup, or you can use them strictly as a highlighter, depending on the shade you get. These powders are perfect for those who want a glowing and dewy look.

For winter, you’re likely going to want to pick up a bronzer that’s not too dark, since we tend to be a bit more pale during these cooler months. The Too Faced Sweethearts Sweet Tea Bronzer is great for giving you a subtle glow and warming up your skin.

The Makeup Forever Pro Fusion Highlighters are great for those looking for a natural looking highlighter. You’ll get more of a lit from within glow, rather than it just looking like you brushed shimmery highlighter on your cheekbones. Plus, of course, these highlighters are super hydrating!

If you love cream blush, you’ll definitely want to try out the Dandelion Dew Blush by Benefit. It’s a wonderful baby doll pink that will brighten up your whole face. But, if you’re more of a powder blush girl, the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes are a great option. They won’t cling to any dry patches on your face, which is great for your winter skin.

In the winter, when your lips tend to be more prone to cracking, you might want to stay away from matte lipsticks. Dior’s Rouge Nude is great for a satin finish that provides a lot of moisture and will wear for a long time. Also, the YSL Volupte Sheer Candy lipsticks are a great option to achieve hydrated lips. The YSL options will also apply more like a gloss if you want something a little more subtle but still with a lot of pigment.

If you’re more of a gloss fan, go get yourself some Buxom Gloss. These wonderful glosses are hydrating, plumping, and even smell like peppermint. Perfectly festive for the winter months!

For many of us there’s no avoiding dry skin, but we can prevent it by picking products that suit our picky skin, like the ones mentioned above. Just as it’s important to keep your body hydrated with plenty of water, it’s also important to keep your skin hydrated. Picking makeup with hydrating properties and nourishing ingredients will keep you looking fresh all winter long!
